One new drawing/painting of my dad

Sometimes it's really nice to make work that has nothing to do with any of my classes. Here's a picture of my dad that I did with graphite, charcoal, and coffee on watercolor paper. I wanted to do something at home with materials that I had around. I think it's 20" x 30". It isn't quite finished yet but I might move on and make a few more that have a more planned composition.

I've got a huge project due on Thursday, so I'll post pics of that after it's finished. It's fiber and printmaking related and I'm pretty excited about it. I get to make things in the woodshop!

Seriously all I do is buy yarn.

Why do I love yarn so much? I had a gift certificate to the yarn store and came home with 16 balls of yarn for a sweater, and nowhere to put them.

I think this is just supplemental material that I worked on along with the paintings. The second one is about 6' x 8', done on brown paper in an hour and the first one is the size of a post card.

Hi and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I just came back from Ox Bow ( a winter program in Michigan) and it was great! I learned tons and worked and screwed around. If you have Facebook, you can find me on it and look at pictures of the fun. My work still has no focus really, but that's okay. My teachers also made me stop before I felt done, which was a good exercise I think. That's why everything looks kind of sketchy. I worked from compositional sketches and collages I made for all but the first one.

I also filled three full sketchbooks.
